2022 Lenten Collection
For Lent this year, our congregation committed to collecting non-perishable food items for the Camillus First UMC's brown bag lunch program. They provide free lunches to whoever may need one in the summer months in the village of Camillus.
We had a different item to collect each of the six weeks of Lent. Many thanks to all who participated in helping feed those in need in our community. Live NativityOn December 4th the church's yard was transported back to the birth of our Savior.
There was a stable, angels, shepherds and of course real animals! It was a magical evening and there were even a few snow flurries! A heartfelt and sincere thank you is extended to everyone who helped tell the Christmas story and made it so special. Successful Work Day at the Church On a sunny Saturday morning (9/11/21), several members of our church family gathered to do some work here at church. We were able to cut down some trees and branches, weeded our patio and flower beds, cleaned and organized the garage, painted a bathroom, filled in and seeded some lawn low spots. The morning ended with pizza for lunch. Many thanks to all who came to lend a hand!
Summer Worship Schedule Starts June 13th Beginning on June 13th, 2021 we will offer one worship service at 9:00am each week in the sanctuary. On the last Sunday of June, July and August, the service will move outdoors to our parking lot as a "Lawn Chair" worship service like we did last summer. So mark your calendars and plan to bring your own chair on 6/27, 7/25, and 8/29. We will be "live-streaming" this outdoor worship service each Sunday at 9:00am, as well! Masking and physical distancing will be optional for those fully vaccinated and will continue to be recommended for those who have not been fully vaccinated. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be held in the Sanctuary.

CROP Walk 2021 a Success! On October 17th, the Greater Syracuse Hunger Walk took place at Onondaga Lake. It was a cold, windy and rainy day but Immanuel's team of Jane M., Amy S., Peg Webster, Shelley DS, Pastor Jack, Erin, Chris & Joey P. and Penny the dog did our best.
Unfortunately the inclement weather persisted so we weren't able to walk the entire 3 miles because we were cold, wet and our sneakers were very soggy but we made a great effort! At the end of the walk we were treated to a snack and bottles of water by Liverpool First United Methodist Church, which was very kind of them. I'm happy to say that Immanuel exceeded it's goal of $1,500.00 because of the fund raising efforts of the team members and also Barb and Gary M. Thanks to everyone who contributed, your donation of $2,234.00 will help fund nine local agencies that feed and minister to the people in our community. Thank you everyone! We are collecting "gently used" shoes and sneakers that will be delivered to "Ralph the Shoe Guy" who owns Discount Shoe Repair in downtown Syracuse. Ralph refurbishes the shoes which may involve some polish or replacing the laces or soles. Then he gives the shoes to the Rescue Mission. Ralph started this ministry 6 years ago and it has grown from 60 pairs the first year to 15,465 pairs last year! Ralph donates his time and supplies however he will accept cash to help defray the cost of the supplies. Last year Immanuel donated 75 pairs and so far this year we donated 47 pairs. So let's help Ralph and the Rescue Mission with this ministry! The donation box is in the Narthex. Any questions ask Shelley Dawson Smith. |
