November’s Second Sunday turkey-themed Lunch - happy cooks, happy servers, happy hungry participants, delicious food, incredible pies and great fellowship! What a day! We're incredibly grateful to the many, many volunteers and to the amazing community for another fantastic Annual Election Day Turkey Dinner. It was a lot of hard work, but these pictures capture the great fun and fellowship we shared. Leftover meals and food were donated to Meals on Wheels and the Samaritan Center. The blessings (and the turkey!) keep flowing! On Sunday, October 19, 2025, our own Mike Block and Gary Merckel—both dedicated church members and volunteer firefighters—shared an engaging fire safety message with our children during worship.
Our fellowship team prepared and served 47 folks delicious home made macaroni and cheese, salad, fruit, rolls and a cake to celebrate Pastor Appreciation Day. November 4, 2025

On September 13, 2025, our church parking lot was transformed into a bustling build site to make beds for children in the greater Syracuse area. Thanks to two shifts totaling 53 volunteers--and a special shout-out to the 17 dedicated people who worked both shifts--we not only reached our goal of 40 beds, but exceeded it, building 63 beds! This project was part of Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP), a national organization whose mission is "No Kid Sleeps On The Floor In Our Town!" The Syracuse chapter was founded seven years ago, and while it's sad that so many children need beds, it's incredibly heartwarming to see our community come together for this project. Volunteers included many members of Immanuel, along with neighbors and friends of the church. There were jobs for everyone: younger members made eight no-sew blankets with Lorlie Wood, while Chef Sam Paventi and his helpers prepared a tasty lunch for both shifts. We were also blessed with some generous surprise donations. A woman who visited our neighborhood last year and purchased bedding after seeing our sign returned this year with four bags of bedding! Our friends at Camillus 1st UMC delivered a car full of bedding and $500 to support the mission. The total cost to Immanuel to build these beds was $10,000, covering not just the wood, but also mattresses, bedding, and pillows-ensuring that each child can sleep "peacefully" the very night their bed is delivered. This year's fund came from M2, so a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supports this mission. Immanuel United Methodist Church “Church of the Bells” 303 Kasson Rd. It's a Wrap - Last WeekAugust 9th was a perfect, sunny day for the 16th Annual Miniature Golf Tournament in support of the Disaster Recovery Mission. We were blessed to have 17 generous hole sponsors, with signs displayed throughout the course to recognize their valued support. And of course, no tournament would be complete without the golfers! A total of 60 participants, including 12 enthusiastic children, enjoyed a fun-filled day of mini golf at the beautiful Fairmount Glen. In true Methodist tradition, food was a highlight of the day. Many thanks to Chef Sam Paventi and his team for preparing a delicious brunch that everyone enjoyed. A very special thank you goes to Tom Ness, owner of Fairmount Glen Miniature Golf, for his incredible generosity in donating the use of the course. We’re also deeply grateful to several church members who made cash donations to support the event. The day was full of smiles, laughter, and community spirit—and thanks to everyone’s participation and generosity, we raised an amazing $2,372.20 for the Disaster Recovery Mission! With heartfelt appreciation, Shelley Dawson Smith Mini Golf Chairperson We're sorry to announce that the August 3-8 mission trip to Hardwick, Vermont has been cancelled.
Unfortunately, we were unable to secure enough volunteers to make the trip as effective and impactful as we had hoped. While this is disappointing, we remain committed to supporting the people of Hardwick and will continue looking for future opportunities to serve. Thank you to everyone who expressed interest—we truly appreciate your willingness to help. |
