Vacation Bible School 2025 was a success! Check out the fun! Week 1On our first night, we journeyed with Navigator Jeff and Scout to discover the amazing truth of God’s love. Week 2Our kids needed shades for their Road Trip at VBS this week! It's a Wrap - Last WeekAugust 9th was a perfect, sunny day for the 16th Annual Miniature Golf Tournament in support of the Disaster Recovery Mission. We were blessed to have 17 generous hole sponsors, with signs displayed throughout the course to recognize their valued support. And of course, no tournament would be complete without the golfers! A total of 60 participants, including 12 enthusiastic children, enjoyed a fun-filled day of mini golf at the beautiful Fairmount Glen. In true Methodist tradition, food was a highlight of the day. Many thanks to Chef Sam Paventi and his team for preparing a delicious brunch that everyone enjoyed. A very special thank you goes to Tom Ness, owner of Fairmount Glen Miniature Golf, for his incredible generosity in donating the use of the course. We’re also deeply grateful to several church members who made cash donations to support the event. The day was full of smiles, laughter, and community spirit—and thanks to everyone’s participation and generosity, we raised an amazing $2,372.20 for the Disaster Recovery Mission! With heartfelt appreciation, Shelley Dawson Smith Mini Golf Chairperson We're sorry to announce that the August 3-8 mission trip to Hardwick, Vermont has been cancelled.
Unfortunately, we were unable to secure enough volunteers to make the trip as effective and impactful as we had hoped. While this is disappointing, we remain committed to supporting the people of Hardwick and will continue looking for future opportunities to serve. Thank you to everyone who expressed interest—we truly appreciate your willingness to help. In April, Pastor Jack attended a trip to Savannah Georgia in the Pastors Rest Work Play initiative. In this video he and Rev. Carolyn Stowe reflect on their experience.
June 8 was a day to remember at Immanuel -- full of great food, laughter and fellowship! Around 100 people joined in this year's festivities, from prepping food and setting up tents to enjoying burgers, hot dogs, and a spread of delicious sides. Whether competing in the corn hole tournament or simply soaking in the beautiful weather, it was a joyful day of fellowship and fun that binds us together! Our kids had a lot of fun washing cars to raise donations for their mission project supporting the Cat Coalition and Helping Hounds. Thanks to their hard work -- and your generous support -- they raised close to $700.00! A heartfelt thanks to everyone who came out, pitched in, and made the day such a success. During the week of May 18, six United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (VIM) teams were hard at work in Grove, Vermont, helping two families recover from the devastating floods of 2023. The teams tackled a range of essential tasks, including digging for drainage systems, building support beams, and installing insulation and sheetrock. They also completed critical plumbing work, helping the families restore a sense of normalcy in their homes. In total, the teams contributed over 600 hours of volunteer labor, making a meaningful difference in the lives of those still rebuilding. We are planning on supporting a team of skilled, semi-skilled and those wishing to become skilled to work on home rebuilding projects. This session will run 1 week of work with daily travel or overnight available all days. We welcome other Church Congregations as well as Individuals interested in joining our team.
We will not know the type of project until closer to our departure. Most likely our assignment will be in a reconstruction project or following another team in a quest of putting a home(s) back together. The team is made up of general contractors, very skilled home owners and those who have never raised a hammer before. Every person will be paired up with someone who knows about the assigned task. No one will be asked to do anything they do not want to do nor is unsafe. The work week is August 3rd to the 9th, 2025 There will be a meeting at Immanuel UMC on July 15th at 7pm (for those at a distance, a Zoom link will be provided). For information or questions please call or email Mike Block. It is important to submit all required forms by the posted date. Any questions regarding this trip please contact the persons named below. Submit forms before July 15th, 2025. Donation Information Helpful requirements for a successful trip not only depend on the physical on site workers but the support team to send them there. It costs about $300 per person for the week to accomplish this type of trip; this is only an average and not a requirement. Those individuals joining our team who are not members of Immanuel UMC are asked to donate to support the trip expenses. This donation will help cover the cost of food, additional Insurance and fuel if you are riding with the group. There is a $16/night donation requested for the overnight (to support the local cost of the church you would be staying at), $74/per person donation to support the material used for the rebuild effort and $25/day to cover meals. The required insurance is roughly $11/week per person. Checks for financial support can be made out to Immanuel United Methodist Church (label the check – August 2025 Vermont Mission Trip) and mail to: PO Box 335, Camillus, NY 13031.
